Fansly banned content: what Fansly restricted in the June 2025 overhaul, and which of it is still legal
For years Fansly was the platform creators moved to when OnlyFans restricted them. That advice is now out of date. On 23 June 2025, Fansly rewrote its Terms of Service, effective 28 June 2025, and banned a stack of content that is perfectly legal between consenting adults: anthropomorphic (furry) work, adult content filmed in public, homemade wrestling, hypnosis roleplay, and content featuring alcohol or cannabis. Creators were given days to delete flagged material. This page lays out exactly what changed and which of it is still lawful, so you can tell a compliance problem from a platform problem.

What content did Fansly ban in 2025?
In a Terms of Service change dated 23 June 2025 and effective 28 June 2025, Fansly banned anthropomorphic (furry) adult content, content featuring alcohol, cannabis and other intoxicating substances, adult content filmed in public, hypnosis and mind-control fetish "regardless of context", homemade wrestling, and prompt-responsive chatbots or image generators. Affected creators were told to delete flagged content by 28 June 2025. Most of what was removed is legal in the United States: it went because Fansly's payment partners will not underwrite it, not because it broke a law.

Fansly enforces by content category rather than a single published word list, so the useful way to read the change is category by category, with a note on whether the underlying act is legal at all.
Anthropomorphic and furry content
Allowed hereFansly banned anthropomorphic ("furry") adult content because its payment partners classify it as simulated bestiality. Hand-drawn kemonomimi (a human with a few animal features, like ears or a tail) is still allowed there. Fursuit and anthro performers were told to delete flagged content by 28 June 2025.
On OnlyFucks: Fictional anthropomorphic characters between consenting adult humans are legal, and permitted here. Real bestiality is not, and never will be.
Alcohol, cannabis and intoxicating substances
Conditional hereThe overhaul restricted content that features alcohol, cannabis and "other intoxicating substances" on camera. A creator filming with a glass of wine or in a legal-cannabis state can now fall foul of the rule.
On OnlyFucks: The concern behind this rule is real: consent has to be sound, so we do not allow content where a participant is impaired to the point they cannot meaningfully consent. Ordinary legal drinking on camera is not banned outright.
Adult content filmed in public
Conditional hereFansly banned adult content filmed in public places outright. Outdoor and public-setting creators were among the hardest hit and were given until 28 June 2025 to remove it.
On OnlyFucks: Public-indecency law varies by state and non-consenting bystanders can never appear, so this stays conditional here rather than an outright ban: the setting has to be lawful and everyone on camera consenting and verified.
Hypnosis and mind-control fetish
Banned here tooFansly banned hypnosis and mind-control content "regardless of context". The blanket wording swept up clearly fictional hypno-kink roleplay alongside anything more serious.
On OnlyFucks: We are with Fansly on the substance here, not the wording: anything depicting a participant who cannot consent, including genuine incapacitation, is banned. We say so plainly rather than banning an entire fantasy genre by keyword.
Homemade wrestling
Allowed hereHomemade wrestling material was added to the prohibited list in the same update, catching a niche of creators who film competitive or fantasy wrestling scenes.
On OnlyFucks: Consensual wrestling between verified adults is legal and permitted here. Nothing about it is a crime.
Prompt-driven chatbots and AI generators
Conditional hereFansly banned selling access to chatbots or image generators that respond to user prompts, and reselling access to Snapchat or other social accounts where that breaks the other platform's rules.
On OnlyFucks: We are a platform for a verified human creator selling their own filmed content, so prompt-driven AND resold-access products sit outside what we host. Real content from a real, verified performer is the whole model.
Why does Fansly count furry content as simulated bestiality?
This is the change that got the most attention, and the reasoning is worth understanding because it is not really Fansly's reasoning at all. Fansly said its payment-processing partners classify anthropomorphic adult content as simulated bestiality. Card networks set hard conditions on what adult merchants can process, and an animal-featured character reads, to a risk model that cannot tell fiction from intent, as an animal. So the platform removed the category rather than lose its ability to take payments.
The tell that this is a payments decision and not a legal or moral one is what Fansly kept: kemonomimi, a human character with a few animal features like cat ears or a tail, is still allowed, because processors read it as human. A fictional anthropomorphic character voiced and performed by a consenting adult human is legal in the United States. It was removed because of who underwrites the transaction, which is the same mechanism that pushes legal fetish content off OnlyFans.

Is Fansly still the safe place to move to?
The permissive gap narrowed
Fansly built its reputation on being more permissive than OnlyFans. After June 2025, whole categories that were fine there are not, so the reflex to just move to Fansly no longer holds for furry, public, wrestling and substance creators.
The mechanism is the same everywhere
Both platforms answer to the same card networks, so both draw their line inside the law to keep processing. A platform that publishes its rules plainly is not more permissive, it is just honest about where the line sits.
Do not host on one platform
The creators who survived the Fansly change had their masters offline and an audience they could reach off-platform. A rule change with a one-week deadline is survivable only if the platform is not the only copy of your business.
