OnlyFans Affiliate Program: Referral Program Rates, Referral Link Rules and Payouts
The program pays 5% of a referred creator fan payments for twelve months, capped at US$50,000. That much you can read anywhere. What none of the guides quote is the document itself: the clock starts at registration rather than launch, search advertising is banned outright, anyone you have a commercial relationship with is excluded, and OnlyFans prints a legal warning against the earnings claims those same guides are making. How does the OnlyFans affiliate program work?
OnlyFans does not call it an affiliate program. It calls it the Referral Program, and it runs on a separate published document from the main terms of service. The headline clause reads: "Referring Users will be paid a referral payment of 5% on Fan Payments generated by the Referred Creator in the 12 months after the Referred Creator becomes a registered User of OnlyFans, up to a maximum referral payment of US$50,000 per Referred Creator." You share a unique link, a new creator registers through it in the same browser, and you are paid monthly.
Two details in that sentence do more work than the 5%. The payment is on Fan Payments, which is the gross amount fans hand over before the platform takes its 20%, so the rate is slightly better than the "5% of their earnings" every summary reports. And the twelve months runs from the registration date, not from the day the creator starts selling. Those two points pull in opposite directions, and the second one usually wins: a creator who takes three months to get verified, build a profile and start posting has burned a quarter of your window before earning a dollar.
The cap is real but almost never reached. The terms do the arithmetic themselves: the US$50,000 ceiling binds only "if a Referred Creator generates Fan Payments with a total value of US$1 million or more in the twelve months after the Referred Creator's registration date." Below that, you get the straight 5%. For a referred creator taking a respectable $2,000 a month, the whole referral is worth $1,200 across the year, which is worth knowing before you build a business plan on it.

This applies the published rule to numbers you supply. It is not a prediction. No platform publishes what a typical referred creator earns, so nothing here estimates how many of the people you refer will launch at all, which in practice is the number that decides this.
What the OnlyFans referral program terms actually say
Eight claims circulate about this program. Here is each one against the published wording, read from the referral program terms on 15 September 2026. Note that the document carries its own date stamp of August 2024, so it has been stable for a while, and note that one of these corrections runs in the affiliate favour rather than against it.

The last row deserves its own paragraph, because it is unusual. OnlyFans is legally required, under the UK Trading Scheme Regulations 1997, to print a warning on this program, and it prints it twice: "Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved from participation in the OnlyFans Referral Program." It then binds participants to the same standard, requiring that "you will not give a false impression of OnlyFans" and "you will not make any statements which suggest that a Creator will make a particular sum of money (or any money) on OnlyFans." Several of the pages competing for this search promise specific monthly figures by month six. Those pages are breaching the terms of the program they are recruiting for, and a referral link is only worth what the account behind it is worth.
Nine ways a referral payment gets voided
The rate is the part everyone reads. The eligibility rules are the part that decides whether you are ever paid, and they are strict enough that "my OnlyFans referral link is not working" is a standing search query. In most cases the link worked fine and the attribution did not.

Read those together and a pattern shows up. Every single one of them is outside your control: which browser a stranger used, whether they accepted cookies, whether they opened a second account, whether they decide to opt out, whether the program still exists next quarter. That is the structural problem with referral income as a plan rather than a bonus. You are doing the acquisition work and holding none of the levers. OnlyFans against Fansly, clause by published clause
Fansly runs a referral program too, and the comparison is not the one you would expect. On the mechanics the two are nearly identical. On disclosure they are not close, and that is the finding worth taking away: OnlyFans commits to a number in a binding document, and Fansly does not commit to one at all.

The whole Fansly referral clause is two sentences: the company "may provide you with a unique referral URL that allows you to earn income from any new Creator who registers for a Creator account using the same browser that they used to click the referral link", and "referral payments will be made in accordance with the terms published on Fansly." Everything a person would want to know before promoting it, the rate, the window, the cap, sits outside the contract in a page that can be revised without amending anything. Credit where it is due to OnlyFans here: putting 5%, twelve months and US$50,000 inside the binding document is the better disclosure, even though the numbers themselves are modest. Five per cent of theirs, or eighty per cent of yours
Here is the comparison the affiliate guides never draw, and it is the reason this page exists. Take one referred creator generating $2,000 a month in fan payments, launching two months after they registered. Your referral pays 5% of $20,000, so $1,000, spread across ten months and then finished forever. If those same sales were yours on a platform paying an 80% creator share, the same $20,000 of fan payments is $16,000 in your pocket, and month thirteen pays exactly as well as month one.
Sixteen times the money, and no dependency on a stranger staying motivated. That is not a marketing line, it is the ratio between 5% of gross and 80% of gross, and you can move the numbers around in the calculator above and watch it hold. Referral income is a reasonable bonus for someone who was going to recommend a platform anyway. As a business, it asks you to recruit competitors, wait a year, and accept whatever their motivation turns out to be.
There is also a promotion problem that specifically affects affiliates rather than creators. Since the terms ban Google Ads and any similar search advertising service for referral links, the scalable paid channel is closed, and what is left is organic reach you build yourself. Questions people ask about the OnlyFans referral program
How does the OnlyFans referral link work?
Every OnlyFans user has one unique referral link. When a new creator clicks it and then registers in that same browser with tracking cookies accepted, their account is tied to yours and you are paid 5% of their fan payments for twelve months from their registration date. There is no application and no approval step, but there is also no manual way to fix an attribution that failed.
Why is my OnlyFans referral link not working?
Almost always browser or cookie mismatch rather than a broken link. The terms require the referred creator to click and register in the same browser, and state that if either of you declines the tracking cookies, "we will not link that account to your referral and will not make referral payments to you." Someone tapping your link inside a social app and then signing up on a laptop is lost.
Does OnlyFans still have a referral program?
Yes. The referral program terms are live at onlyfans.com/referral-program-terms and carry a self-reported last-updated date of August 2024. What no longer exists is the lifetime commission structure older articles describe. OnlyFans also reserves the right to "change any aspect" of the program or "discontinue" it at any time, without affecting payments already earned.
How do I refer another creator to OnlyFans?
Share your referral link and have them register through it in the same browser. Two restrictions matter: you must not "impersonate OnlyFans or give the impression that OnlyFans is sharing or promoting your referral link", and you must not promote it through Google Ads or any similar search advertising service. OnlyFans can require you to disclose how you shared it.
Can an OnlyFans management agency collect referral payments on its creators?
Not under the published terms. Referral payments are excluded on any account OnlyFans determines is "owned or is operated by you", and on any account belonging to a referred creator "with whom you have a commercial relationship". When do OnlyFans referral payments get paid out?
Monthly. The terms state that "the referral payments due to you that accrue in one calendar month will be transferred to you on or around the first day of the next calendar month." You need a payout method already on your account, and referral payments are "inclusive of any applicable Indirect Sales Tax", so the figure you see is not net of what you may owe.
Is the OnlyFans referral program worth it?
As a bonus on recommendations you were making anyway, yes, because it costs the person you refer nothing. As an income plan, the arithmetic is weak: 5% of someone else gross for at most twelve months against 80% of your own gross for as long as you publish. If you have an audience large enough to recruit creators, that audience will pay you considerably more for your own work.
