Pornhub Model Program Alternative for Creators Who Sell Their Own Clips
The Pornhub Model Program pays you a share of the ad revenue on free videos. Pornhub does not publish the share, it changes with your quarterly Tier, and nothing is paid until you pass $100. A paid store works the other way around: a buyer pays the price you put on the clip. Keep Pornhub for reach and sell the full videos here.

What does the Pornhub Model Program actually pay?
Six things Pornhub publishes about creator earnings, quoted from its own help center.
How you are paid
A share of ad revenue
"We pay out a percentage of the ad revenue your videos receive." The videos are free to stream.
Your percentage
Not published
It "is dependent on your Tier and the performance (views and rating) of your video".
Tier
Reset every quarter
Set by your rank and "the number of free to view videos you upload".
Ad rate
Changes by the minute
"Ad rates are dynamic", and "ad rates are higher in North America".
Minimum payout
$100 a month
Below $100 the balance "will continue to roll over until you reach the minimum".
Who must be on camera
You
"The main account holder must be in the uploaded video" for it to earn.
Why ad revenue is the wrong meter for a niche catalog
Ad revenue rewards volume. A video that 200,000 people stream for thirty seconds earns more ad share than a fourteen minute fetish scene that 300 people would happily pay $12 for. That is why the Model Program ties your Tier to how many free videos you upload. If your catalog is a narrow kink with a loyal audience, the buyers are worth far more than the views, and only a price captures that.
The ad-share path
- 1 A viewer streams your video free
- 2 Advertisers bid on the ad slots around it
- 3 Pornhub keeps the ad revenue
- 4 Your Tier sets the share you get
- 5 Paid once your balance passes $100
The paid-clip path
- 1 A buyer sees your clip and its price
- 2 They pay the price you set
- 3 The platform takes its fee
- 4 The rest is your sale, logged per clip
- 5 You see what each title earned
None of this makes Pornhub a bad place to be. With what it describes as over 3 billion visits a month, it is the biggest free shop window in adult. The mistake is treating the shop window as the till. Use the free uploads to get found, then send people to a full video with a price on it, on a store like selling porn videos online per clip or a site like OnlyFans built to make money.
Is Pornhub still available in every US state?
No. Aylo, which owns Pornhub, RedTube, YouPorn and Brazzers, withdrew service from 25 US states rather than run the age checks those state laws require, and kept operating in Louisiana and Ohio. A free upload reaches nobody in a dark state, however good it is.
That matters twice for an ad-revenue creator. Those views disappear, and Pornhub itself says ad rates are higher in North America, so the views you lose are the better-paid ones. Paid stores took the other route: they stayed and verify age at the door, so a buyer in the same state can still reach the clip. Our state-by-state age verification checker shows which states are affected and when each law took effect.

Pornhub Model Program vs paid creator platforms
Figures are each platform's own published terms. FanCentro, OnlyFans and Clips4Sale numbers match our OnlyFans competitors comparison.
| Platform | How you are paid | Published cut | Minimum payout | Who sets the price | US reach |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pornhub Model Program | Share of ad revenue on free views | Not published, varies by Tier | $100, monthly | No price, videos are free to stream | Withdrawn from 25 US states |
| FanCentro | Subscriptions, clips, tips, messages | Creator paid 80% of fan transactions | $100, monthly | You set it, clips from $0.99 | Available with age checks |
| OnlyFans | Subscriptions, PPV, tips | Creator keeps 80% | $20 | You set it | Available with age checks |
| Clips4Sale | Per clip sale | 60% to creator on clips, 80% on tips | $50 US | You set it | Available with age checks |
| OnlyFucks | Clip sales, premium access, tips | Shown in your studio before you upload | Shown in your studio | You set it per video | Available with age checks |
Where Pornhub wins, honestly: reach, and rules that are broader than OnlyFans on BDSM and rough content. Its Violent Content Policy treats BDSM, hardcore and rough sex between consenting adults as allowed, and bans only activity "posing a real threat or likelihood of causing serious physical injury or death". Its Community Guidelines do ban incest role-play, "feces of any kind or vomit with solid contents", certain drugs, and any content that "promotes or arranges sexual services in exchange for money or goods".
What changes when you sell the full video
- ✓You know what each title earns. A sale is a line with a price. An ad share is a monthly total you cannot trace back to one scene.
- ✓Long scenes stop being a handicap. A buyer pays for twenty minutes. A free viewer skips to the middle.
- ✓Couples and duo creators earn on both. Pornhub only pays when the account holder is in the video. Here a studio account sells every verified performer's scenes.
- ✓Titles say what is in them. No restricted word list rewrites a fetish into code words before a buyer sees it.
Studio accounts are for verified adults selling content they made. Every performer is ID-checked and 2257 records are kept.
How to move from Pornhub ad revenue to paid clips
Keep the free funnel
Leave your Pornhub videos up. They are still discovery in every state Pornhub serves. Just stop treating the ad share as the income.
Cut a paid version
Take the full scenes behind your best free teasers and list them as paid clips. The teaser on Pornhub points at the full clip.
Verify once here
Create a studio account, pass the private ID check, and add every co-performer with ID and a release, as Pornhub already required.
Price and watch per clip
Set a price per video. After a month you know which titles sell, which is the one number the ad share never shows you.
Pricing is the step people get wrong. Start with the full version of a free video that already has views, and price it against what the clip stores charge for similar length. Our guide on how to price adult video clips works through per-minute pricing, and if you are weighing a second subscription platform, the sites like FanCentro guide compares the ones that pay on a sale.
Pornhub Model Program questions creators ask
How much does Pornhub pay creators?
+
Pornhub does not publish a rate. Its help center says the Model Program pays "a percentage of the advertising revenue made on your verified videos", and that the percentage "is dependent on your Tier and the performance (views and rating) of your video". Ad rates are dynamic and higher in North America, so the same views can pay differently month to month.
What is the minimum payout on Pornhub?
+
The minimum payout is $100 USD. Pornhub pays once a month, processes payouts in the first week, and rolls any balance under $100 over to the next month until it reaches the threshold. Payment options include direct deposit for US and Canadian models, paper check, Paxum, Cosmo and crypto.
Is there an alternative to the Pornhub Model Program?
+
Yes. The usual alternatives are paid stores, where a buyer pays a price you set: FanCentro and OnlyFans for subscriptions, Clips4Sale and iWantClips for clips, and explicit-first stores such as OnlyFucks. Most creators keep free Pornhub uploads as promotion and sell the full videos on a paid store.
Can I sell my videos on Pornhub instead of earning ad revenue?
+
The Model Program as described on Pornhub's own partner page is built around free-to-watch videos that earn ad revenue, plus contests, referrals and exports to YouPorn, RedTube and Tube8. If you want a buyer to pay a set price for a specific video, a clip store or paid creator platform is the direct route.
Why are my Pornhub earnings lower in some states?
+
Partly because Pornhub is not available there. Aylo, which owns Pornhub, withdrew service from 25 US states rather than run the age verification those state laws require. Views from those states do not happen, and North American views are the ones Pornhub says carry higher ad rates.
Do I need to be in every video to earn on Pornhub?
+
Yes, for the Model Program. Pornhub states that "in order for the video to be eligible for earnings, the main account holder must be in the uploaded video". Co-performers must also be verified, and missing performer IDs is one of the published reasons a payment is held.
