It is one of the more confusing messages OnlyFans shows a new creator, because it arrives after you have already submitted a government ID and a selfie. You did the hard part, and the platform is still asking for more. What it means is straightforward once you read it as a second, lighter identity signal: OnlyFans wants a link to an existing, active, public social media profile, most commonly Instagram, X or TikTok, that clearly shows your face and looks like a real person uses it.

The ID proves you are who you say you are. The social account proves you are a real, active human rather than a freshly created shell, and it gives the review a second place to see your face. On its own the message is not a rejection or a ban. It is a required step that a lot of creators simply were not expecting, and it stalls signups that would otherwise sail through.

The request is about fraud and trust, not about your content. Adult platforms are a magnet for fake and stolen-identity signups, and a live, established social profile is a cheap, hard-to-fake signal that a genuine person stands behind the account. An account with a face, a posting history and followers is far more expensive for a bad actor to manufacture than a single ID photo, which can be borrowed or bought.

That is why a brand-new, empty, or private profile does not satisfy it. The whole point is history and visibility. • It is genuinely yours. The person in the posts should match the person on the ID and in the selfie. A mismatch defeats the entire purpose of the step.

If your linked account was private, or was a new handle with two posts, that is almost certainly why the message keeps coming back. Fix the profile, not the submission.

Work through these in order and the message clears for most creators on the next attempt.

1. Pick your most established account. Use the Instagram, X or TikTok profile with the longest history and the clearest photos of you, not a fresh one you made for OnlyFans.
2. Set it to public. Switch the account out of private mode so the review can actually see it, and leave it public until your OnlyFans account is approved.
3. Make your face and recent posts visible. Confirm the profile picture shows your face and that there are recent posts. If it is thin, post a few current photos before you resubmit.
4. Add the link in your OnlyFans verification settings. Paste the full profile URL where OnlyFans asks for it, double-check it opens for a logged-out visitor, and submit.
5. Wait, then unlink if you want to. Once you are approved you can change or remove the link. Do not remove it before approval lands.

Keeping a linked social profile alive is easier when you are already posting to it for promotion anyway. Plenty of creators keep the account active by taking one piece of content and reshaping a single clip into posts for every platform, which doubles as the marketing that actually drives fans to your page.

This is the real sticking point for a lot of creators, especially anyone trying to keep adult work separate from a personal identity. A few honest options:

• Create a dedicated creator profile. The cleanest answer is a public Instagram, X or TikTok tied to your stage name, with your face and a small run of recent posts. It doubles as your promotion channel, so the effort is not wasted.
• Do not use a private personal account. Flipping your private personal profile to public to pass the check, then hoping nobody notices, exposes exactly the identity you were trying to protect. Build a separate creator handle instead.
• Understand the trade-off. The requirement is real, and a platform that verifies this hard is verifying everyone, which is part of what keeps stolen and fake accounts off it.
