Delete OnlyFans Account: How to Deactivate, Permanently Delete or Recover a Creator Account
Deleting is the easy part. The expensive part is the order you do it in, because a balance under the payout minimum, a pending week of earnings and a library you never downloaded all stop being yours the moment the account closes. Here is the official process, the deactivate option that does not actually exist, and what happens to your content, your money and your ID afterwards.

How do you delete an OnlyFans creator account?
Open your account, go to Settings, select Delete Account and follow the instructions. If you have paying subscribers, no new subscriptions can be added from that moment and the account is deleted when your last paid subscription expires. Deletion is permanent: OnlyFans states an account cannot be restored once deleted, so withdraw your balance and download your files first.

Delete, hide or deactivate: what OnlyFans actually offers
Most guides on this subject tell you to deactivate first and delete later, once you are certain. That is good advice about a button that does not exist. OnlyFans documents two things a creator can do to a live account, and the third one is something the platform does to you:

The profile hiding option is the one worth knowing about, and it is the closest thing to a pause. It is granular down to individual US states, so a creator worried about being recognised locally, or about a specific state's rules, can keep earning from everywhere else instead of closing the account. Before you press delete: six things to do in order
Deletion is irreversible and it takes effect on a timetable set by your subscribers, not by you. Work through this list before you start the process, because most of it becomes impossible afterwards.

Withdraw your balance, and check the minimum
The minimum withdrawal is $20 for most payout methods, and your exact figure shows on your Statements page. If your balance sits below that minimum you cannot request it out, which is the single most common way creators lose money on the way out.

Wait out the pending balance
Earnings from the last 7 days sit in Pending Balance before they become withdrawable. A small number of countries with high reversal rates run a 21 day hold instead, switching to a rolling 7 days after four months of earning. Time your deletion after the last hold clears.

Download your masters at full quality
Once the account is terminated you cannot access the copies stored there. Pull every video and photo set at the original resolution, not the compressed versions, and store them somewhere you control.

Save your tax paperwork
You still owe tax on what you earned. Download your statements and your 1099 before the account closes, because chasing records from a platform you no longer have an account on is slow.

Keep your 2257 records
Federal record-keeping under 18 U.S.C. 2257 is your obligation as the producer, not the platform's. IDs and signed releases for every performer stay with you regardless of which site the content was published on.

Give your fans somewhere to go first
Your subscriber list does not come with you. Post where you are moving to, and put it in your bio and your socials, while the account is still live and people can still see it.
What happens to your money when you delete your OnlyFans account
Nothing about deletion is designed to take your earnings, but the timing rules are unforgiving and they run on their own schedule. Three numbers decide whether you get paid out cleanly.
OnlyFans takes 20% of every fan payment and pays you 80%, which it states in both its terms and its help center. Your share lands in a Pending Balance covering the last 7 days of earnings, then moves to your Current Balance where it can be withdrawn. Creators in a small number of countries with high reversal rates are held at 21 days instead, and those accounts switch to a rolling 7 days after four months of earning. Then there is a floor: the minimum withdrawal is $20 for most payout methods, and your exact figure is shown on your Statements page.
So the failure mode is specific. You delete the account with $14 left, or with the last week still pending, and there is no route to that money afterwards because there is no account to request it from. Withdraw, wait for the hold to clear, confirm the balance reads zero, then delete. What happens to your content when you delete your account
You own the copyright in your work and always did. Deleting the account does not change that, and it does not hand OnlyFans anything new. What it also does not do is undo the license you agreed to when you uploaded, and that distinction is where creators get surprised.

"The license you grant us is perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, assignable, and transferable by us."

Perpetual means what it says: a license with no end date does not expire because you closed your account. The terms also commit that OnlyFans will never sell your content to other platforms, while stating that in the event of a sale of the company or its assets it may transfer any license you have granted. Both things are true at once, and neither is unusual for a large platform. What matters practically is the second quote: after termination you cannot get at the copies held there, which is why downloading your masters is step two of the checklist and not an afterthought. Does OnlyFans delete your ID and personal data too?
Closing an account and erasing the data behind it are two separate events, and only the first one is under your control. OnlyFans' privacy policy sets retention for identity record-keeping and financial or tax reporting at up to 7 years in some locations, and it states that an erasure request can be refused where a legal reason to keep the data applies. You have a right to ask. You do not have a right to a yes.
This is not a scandal, and any platform that verifies identity properly is in the same position, including this one: age verification records exist precisely so that they can be produced later. It does mean the honest answer to "will my ID be gone" is no, not immediately, and anyone telling you otherwise has not read the policy. Can you recover a deleted OnlyFans account?
No. The help center is unambiguous: once an account is deleted it cannot be restored, and if you change your mind you will need to apply for a new Creator account. There is no grace period documented, no reactivation window and no support route back in.
Applying again also means starting from zero on everything that took you years: verification runs again, your subscriber list is gone, your earnings history and any social proof attached to the old profile do not transfer, and a new creator application can be rejected. If you are deleting out of frustration rather than because you have somewhere to go, hide the profile instead and take the week. The button is still there afterwards.
If OnlyFans is deleting your account and you did not ask
Then this is the wrong page and the clock is different. The terms let OnlyFans suspend or delete an account with 30 days notice, at any time, for any reason, and separately allow it to act without warning while it reviews a suspected breach, including pausing fan payments and withholding earnings during that review. Decisions are appealed through a Deactivation Appeal Form, earnings forfeitures through the complaints route, and there is a hard deadline attached: dispute within six months of being notified, or the terms say you waive the right to dispute at all.
Handle the appeal first and the move second, in that order, because an appeal is much harder to run once you have deleted the account yourself. Where creators go after deleting
Worth saying plainly, because this page exists on a competing platform: if your content fits inside the OnlyFans rules and you are earning there, the audience advantage is real and no comparison table should talk you out of it.
